Orchard road
The undisputed hub of shopping in Singapore is Orchard Road where is probably the region’s most famous shopping area. This area is lined with shopping malls packed with local and international department stores, tiny boutiques, restaurants, cafes, movie theatre and snack bars.
This is a-go place for all tourists who wants to enjoy duty-free savings on the world's leading luxury brands. I highly recommend this place as DFS Galleria Scottswalk brings you the most extensive selection of prestigious brands and the largest assortment of fashion and cosmetics in Singapore. It is located just opposite Far East Plaza building.
Far East Plaza(14 Scotts Road, tel: 6734-2325)
Far East Plaza boasts with six storeys of more than 800 stores and eateries is popular among the young and grungy.
Both locals and expatriates love to hang out at this bustling shopping centre which sells everything from the most fashionable and outrageous shoes and clothes, to precious gems, eyewear and CDs. Also make sure that you check out Level One! Which boasts a wide array of street fashion, unique accessories and knick knacks. Often, after doing my shopping, i would usually head to the last floor. Where there are lots of Chinese and Thai food outlets serving inexpensive but reasonably food. To me personally, they are excellent value-for-money restaurants in orchard road that caters to both locals and expatriates. Although their décor doesn’t do much, it’s usually crowded, and staffs don’t pamper, but most importantly, the food is reliably good and cheap.
Far East Plaza has never failed helping me in my shopping list. Some of my favorite shops would be Bagage, Image 2001, Depression, Maryjane, trendy zone, Mis'suki, closet affairs,etc. I guarantee that you will not leave empty handed after shopping in Far East Plaza!
CATHAY CINELEISURE ORCHARD
Developed around a movie-set theme, the carefully chosen tenant-mix gives visitors a choice of entertainment activities including lifestyle retail shopping, fine dining at restaurants, casual dining in a themed foodcourt, as well as a myriad of leisure activities found in the health spa, health centre, beauty centre, social club, games arcade, cyber-cafe and a choice of six movie halls.
I personally love to hang out at cathy cineleisure orchard. Because at Cathy Cineleisure Orchard it offers a varieties of things to do. For example, catching late night movies after done shopping or even to playing games at E2Max gaming center or even to sing at kbox that opens till dawn.
Scared of feeling bored before or after the movies and you need a rest? Fret not! there is a lounge at hotdog factory, located on the 5th floor of Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. this is the perfect place to kick back and chill before or after a movie.The Lounge at Hotdog Factory is fully equipped to cater to all technological demands, featuring console gaming on a large screen plasma TV and Nintendo Wii! For the less tech-savvy there are cosy corners for the lost art of conversation. In short, you’ll never be hungry or bored at The Lounge at Hotdog Factory.
The Heeren Shops
The Heeren Shops is a choice mall of lifestyle shops with unique product offerings targeting shoppers in their 20s and above. It has a reputation for cutting edge styles for the young and trendy working adult and anyone, regardless of age, who has a zest for life and individualityThe mall is constantly abuzz with activities and shoppers looking to unusual merchandise and exciting promotions. Challenging conventionality, the atypical shopper of The Heeren Shops chooses to question stereotypes instead of conforming to them; he/she puts the ‘I’s in individualism, be it in dressing, grooming or attitude.
The most iconic thing about The heeren is the fervent attitude of the music culture at HMV remains. Hundreds and thousands of CDs and DVDs resonate, to suit each and every preference, with a mesmerizing lure. Being a universal language, music and food are are appreciated by the masses.
Bugis street
Bugis Street is the largest street shopping location in Singapore. Bugis street houses about 600 stalls, offering eclectic mix of trendy and functional fashion wear, local delicacies and fruits,hawker food and beauty services. For the young and trendy in search of a good bargain, browse through the air-conditioned stretch of stalls on the second floor. Bugis street is also one of my favourite place to shop and i believed that most locals and teenagers loved to shop at bugis street. At bugis street often provide good bargains and their stuff there are quoted at a reasonably cheap price. Most teenagers would go bugis street to shop because of the good bargains they can get. Bugis street is one of the favourite hangout and shopping place for me and most teenagers out there. Especially at night and during Fridays,Saturdays,Sundays and holidays, bugis street would be packed with people and often being frequent by tourists, students, working adults as well as residents living nearby. Plus, i'm a frequent shopper of bugis street, i could tell you that the stalls are constantly presenting their customers with new products and items. thus shoppers would be constantly updated with the latest trend.
So make sure that Bugis street is in one of your itinerary!
Vivocity Harbourfront
Vivocity is an iconic, entertainment and lifestyle destination that constantly surprises and stimulates visitors with its vibrant mix of retail and and entertainment concepts. It is also the largest shopping mall in town that spans 24 hectares along Singapore's prime southern waterfront.
Personally, i feel that the shops at Vivocity caters more to kids and working adults. Unlike shops like Far East Plaza that caters more to the young and trendy, most of the shops there ranges from mid to high-end. However, my favourite shop at vivocity would be Daiso! It is a japanese shop( so called-$2 shop) because everything they sell cost only $2!!!
Vivocity has a nice ambience and it is one of my favourite place to chill out and relax (especially after the sun sets). Vivocity also has a rooftop water feature in skypark, spanning an area of 4 olympic-sized pool, the roof top water feature in sky park is an icon within Vivocity that will enthral and excite both young and old, fat and thin or even the tall and short. In other words, this water feature caters to everybody irregardless of their ages.
Vivocity has open the largest multiplex in singapore, which has occupied two stylishly designed levels with hues of royal purple and crimson red that boast 15 screens and 4 cinema types.("WOW!") GV Vivocity is ideal for those who love an extensive variety in their movie choices, and simultaneously looking for a well-rounded cinematic experience that couples quality sound systems and comfortable seating with pleasant service and ambience.
I assure you that you will never forget this shopping mall.

Succulent poached white chicken served on fragrant rice that is cooked in chicken broth together with ginger and garlic and accompanied by zesty chilli-lime sauce, ginger puree or thick soy sauce. This dish here is probably a far cry from the original recipes brought to Singapore more than 60 years ago, but like most people believe, progress brings improvement! With so many unique variation, try them all and find the one which appeals to your taste buds.
With Chicken rice sold at almost everywhere, these few stalls are just few of my places to enjoy it. These are the places where i personally feel that the chicken rice tastes like 'heaven'!!! The fragrance of the dish alone is so aromatic that it will automatically succeed in attracting you to their stall. (or just look out for usually the longest queue) When the dish is served , it is always so nicely decorated and well garnished because here in Singapore, we take pride in our food and what we serve others. Just imagine tender meat that are soft and juicy upon contact with your mouth before you even get to enjoy the chewy sensation of it all.

The Famous Singapore DUCK and HIPPO Tours!
well, the first time i ever board the ducktour was few years ago. it was fun!
definitely more fun than what you would expect.
have you thought that a boat that you are sitting in now will become a bus riding on the streets? im sure it is one-of-a-kind in the world.
My family and i boarded the DUCKtours and each of us only costs $33! The cost for a child is even cheaper with only $17. Almost half the price of an adult. If you have a toddler? Do not worry. He will only costs $2 and you may even request to have seats that is more towards the center of the boat so as to ensure your little toddler's safety.
As i know that DUCKtours are quite popular among the tourists as a sightseeing tour around singapore, i made my advance reservation on phone. My family and i definitely do not want to miss this tour!
How can you miss it if you are a tourist to singapore???
You can only find it in Singapore and it is one of the tourist attractions in Singapore too!
Well. While i was amazed by the the cute little duck to be able to walk on the streets and at the same time swim in water, my sister prefer the big adorable hippo instead.
Yes. It is the HIPPOtours!
After we enjoyed the DUCKtours, we proceed on to the HIPPOtour that my sister has always wanted to board on.
HIPPOtour is a tour on the topless Hippo bus. We definitely chose to sit at the upper deck of the bus to enjoy the sunshine of Singapore!
It was cooling for us. There was even breeze blowing onto my face.
There are 3 types of tours that the HIPPOtours provide.
City HIPPOtour , Heritage HIPPOtour and Sentosa HIPPOfeeder.
We chose the Heritage HIPPOtour and it brought us to many heritage places such as Chinatown, Kampong Glam.
If you want to know more about Singapore's heritage. Heritage HIPPOtour is definitely one you cannot miss.
As far as i know from the crews on board which they have a very cute title as HiPPOtainer, City HIPPOtour is a tour around the city area such as the famous shopping heaven Orchard Road and Sentosa Hippofeeder is a link providing transport from suntec or rochard to the Sentosa.
The HiPPOtainer said they still offer Singapore sightseeing tour package, Singapore pass, Boarding Pass Privileges and even Night Tour till 10pm!
Wow. It seems like HIPPOtour is as interesting as the DUCKtour.

At a cost of $226 million, the Marina Barrage is unveiled only less than one month ago and it boasts more functions than just being a water catchments area of 10,000 hectares that helps reduce flooding in key areas of Singapore such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang.
The Marina Barrage has also nine crest gates, span across the 350 meters wide Marina Channel, which plays a role in keeping out the seawater and transforming the Marina Basin into a freshwater body through natural flushing. Upon treatment from advanced membrane technology, all these water then becomes safe for all our consumptions!
If that doesn’t catch your attention, then look to the relaxation side of the Marine Barrage!
In the Marina Basin, the waters will be unaffected by the tides and are therefore stable, making it suitable for recreational activities such as boating, kayaking and sailing.
With such novelty experience in our city’s waterfront, what more can any visitor ask for!
More relaxation?
Then waste no time and head over to the Green Roof like I did!
The Green Roof, as the name suggests, is a garden concept rooftop and landscaped to integrate with the environment. It is open to the public access and serves as a recreational space. So I came over with my friends and sat down on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a picnic lunch enjoying the wonderful scenery around the Barrage.
If you want to save yourself the trouble, it would be a unique experience too, to dine in some of the alfresco dining areas of several F&B outlets that faces and overlooks the endless expanse of the sea!
After a good meal, be adventurous like me and explore the other parts of the first Reservoir in the City here in Singapore and find yourself amazed by what you see this place can offer.
Be it the watching the water gushing back into the sea from the magnificent crest gates, or looking over the largest Solar Park in Singapore with those 405 Solar Panels generating electricity used by the Marina Barrage, for its indoor lighting and power point. Talk about conserving electricity. I’m amazed (;
When I was there at the Marina Barrage, I got to witness this incredible view of the sunset.
Take Note: This is highly recommended! The scene is just an absolutely beauty, watching the sky change in colour. You wouldn’t want to miss something like this in Singapore.
But wait till the night! Even though a picture says a thousand words, I doubt this one here is able to tell you much about how great the night view really is in person.
Although I never though Singapore would have much of a night scenery, the one I saw wasn’t all that bad actually. I never will underestimate the beauty of lights alone anymore because the lights I saw were splendid and everything just went well together.
Even the lights from the construction of the Integrated Resorts (IR) across the waters looks amazing!
Completed by the skyscrapers and the Singapore Flyer! Our very own Ferris wheel, which happens to be one of the world’s tallest observation wheel.
Keep this place in your mind, and if you ever find yourself visiting Singapore, write down the Marina Barrage as one of the places to visit when you’re here. It might just be the experience that you’re looking for. I know I enjoyed my time there, and quite sure that you would too.

Personally, i feel that the shops at Vivocity caters more to kids and working adults. Unlike shops like Far East Plaza that caters more to the young and trendy, most of the shops there ranges from mid to high-end. However, my favourite shop at vivocity would be Daiso! It is a japanese shop( so called-$2 shop) because everything they sell cost only $2!!!
Vivocity has a nice ambience and it is one of my favourite place to chill out and relax (especially after the sun sets). Vivocity also has a rooftop water feature in skypark, spanning an area of 4 olympic-sized pool, the roof top water feature in sky park is an icon within Vivocity that will enthral and excite both young and old, fat and thin or even the tall and short. In other words, this water feature caters to everybody irregardless of their ages.
Vivocity has open the largest multiplex in singapore, which has occupied two stylishly designed levels with hues of royal purple and crimson red that boast 15 screens and 4 cinema types.("WOW!") Succulent poached white chicken served on fragrant rice that is cooked in chicken broth together with ginger and garlic and accompanied by zesty chilli-lime sauce, ginger puree or thick soy sauce. This dish here is probably a far cry from the original recipes brought to Singapore more than 60 years ago, but like most people believe, progress brings improvement! With Chicken rice sold at almost everywhere, these few stalls are just few of my places to enjoy it. These are the places where i personally feel that the chicken rice tastes like 'heaven'!!! The fragrance of the dish alone is so aromatic that it will automatically succeed in attracting you to their stall. (or just look out for usually the longest queue) When the dish is served , it is always so nicely decorated and well garnished because here in Singapore, we take pride in our food and what we serve others. The Famous Singapore DUCK and HIPPO Tours!
well, the first time i ever board the ducktour was few years ago. it was fun!
definitely more fun than what you would expect.
have you thought that a boat that you are sitting in now will become a bus riding on the streets? im sure it is one-of-a-kind in the world.
My family and i boarded the DUCKtours and each of us only costs $33! The cost for a child is even cheaper with only $17. Almost half the price of an adult. If you have a toddler? Do not worry. He will only costs $2 and you may even request to have seats that is more towards the center of the boat so as to ensure your little toddler's safety.
As i know that DUCKtours are quite popular among the tourists as a sightseeing tour around singapore, i made my advance reservation on phone. My family and i definitely do not want to miss this tour!

You can only find it in Singapore and it is one of the tourist attractions in Singapore too!
Well. While i was amazed by the the cute little duck to be able to walk on the streets and at the same time swim in water, my sister prefer the big adorable hippo instead.
Yes. It is the HIPPOtours!
After we enjoyed the DUCKtours, we proceed on to the HIPPOtour that my sister has always wanted to board on.
HIPPOtour is a tour on the topless Hippo bus. We definitely chose to sit at the upper deck of the bus to enjoy the sunshine of Singapore!
It was cooling for us. There was even breeze blowing onto my face.
There are 3 types of tours that the HIPPOtours provide.
City HIPPOtour , Heritage HIPPOtour and Sentosa HIPPOfeeder.
We chose the Heritage HIPPOtour and it brought us to many heritage places such as Chinatown, Kampong Glam.
If you want to know more about Singapore's heritage. Heritage HIPPOtour is definitely one you cannot miss.
As far as i know from the crews on board which they have a very cute title as HiPPOtainer, City HIPPOtour is a tour around the city area such as the famous shopping heaven Orchard Road and Sentosa Hippofeeder is a link providing transport from suntec or rochard to the Sentosa.
The HiPPOtainer said they still offer Singapore sightseeing tour package, Singapore pass, Boarding Pass Privileges and even Night Tour till 10pm!
Wow. It seems like HIPPOtour is as interesting as the DUCKtour.

At a cost of $226 million, the Marina Barrage is unveiled only less than one month ago and it boasts more functions than just being a water catchments area of 10,000 hectares that helps reduce flooding in key areas of Singapore such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang.
The Marina Barrage has also nine crest gates, span across the 350 meters wide Marina Channel, which plays a role in keeping out the seawater and transforming the Marina Basin into a freshwater body through natural flushing. Upon treatment from advanced membrane technology, all these water then becomes safe for all our consumptions!
If that doesn’t catch your attention, then look to the relaxation side of the Marine Barrage!
In the Marina Basin, the waters will be unaffected by the tides and are therefore stable, making it suitable for recreational activities such as boating, kayaking and sailing.

Then waste no time and head over to the Green Roof like I did!
The Green Roof, as the name suggests, is a garden concept rooftop and landscaped to integrate with the environment. It is open to the public access and serves as a recreational space. So I came over with my friends and sat down on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a picnic lunch enjoying the wonderful scenery around the Barrage.
If you want to save yourself the trouble, it would be a unique experience too, to dine in some of the alfresco dining areas of several F&B outlets that faces and overlooks the endless expanse of the sea!
After a good meal, be adventurous like me and explore the other parts of the first Reservoir in the City here in Singapore and find yourself amazed by what you see this place can offer.
Be it the watching the water gushing back into the sea from the magnificent crest gates, or looking over the largest Solar Park in Singapore with those 405 Solar Panels generating electricity used by the Marina Barrage, for its indoor lighting and power point. Talk about conserving electricity. I’m amazed (;
When I was there at the Marina Barrage, I got to witness this incredible view of the sunset.
Take Note: This is highly recommended! The scene is just an absolutely beauty, watching the sky change in colour. You wouldn’t want to miss something like this in Singapore.
But wait till the night! Even though a picture says a thousand words, I doubt this one here is able to tell you much about how great the night view really is in person.
Although I never though Singapore would have much of a night scenery, the one I saw wasn’t all that bad actually. I never will underestimate the beauty of lights alone anymore because the lights I saw were splendid and everything just went well together.
Even the lights from the construction of the Integrated Resorts (IR) across the waters looks amazing!
Completed by the skyscrapers and the Singapore Flyer! Our very own Ferris wheel, which happens to be one of the world’s tallest observation wheel.
Keep this place in your mind, and if you ever find yourself visiting Singapore, write down the Marina Barrage as one of the places to visit when you’re here. It might just be the experience that you’re looking for. I know I enjoyed my time there, and quite sure that you would too.
